Yahoo and Microsoft Adopt Google Sitemaps Protocol
Google, Yahoo and Microsoft have announced the adoption of the same sitemap protocol, one that will make it easier for search engines to index websites. The protocol: The Google Sitemaps one, meaning basically Google convinced the others that it was better to standardize than confuse webmasters. The universal Sitemaps protocol now calls sitemaps.org its home, and is shared under a Attribution-ShareAlike Creative Commons License, meaning other search engines (cough, Ask.com, cough) can jump right in.
Hopefully this will be more successful than the last collaboration, nofollow, turned out to be.

Sitebases, the next protocol after Sitemaps
