Google Treats Its Employees Like Children?

Aaron Swartz has an interesting post, one no doubt many people would disagree with, about how Google “infantilizes” their employees. The theory goes that everything in the Googleplex’s culture, including the free food, big colored balls, laundry, fake spaceships and giant dinosaurs, are all designed to prevent Googlers from growing up and getting independent, especially since they are mostly recruited out of college. I don’t know how accurate it is, especially since all the Googlers I see with any frequency work in Manhattan office, and we all know that New Yorkers are miserable 24/7.
