AutoGenerate A Google Custom Search Engine With del.icio.us

Vik Singh, who used to work at Google, has created a really amazing tool that lets you create a highly Google Custom Search Engine without knowing how to use any of the advanced options, populating it with your del.icio.us bookmarks. You can create a CSE based on your entire account, or based on a particular tag, getting a search engine complete with refinements based on popular tags in the set. It really is a well-thought out and built tool, and it doesn’t surprise me one bit that Vik worked on Google’s BigTable and server cluster.
Check out an example search engine on Machine Learning, or read more about it at Vik’s blog.

The sample search for linear regression doesn’t work anymore and I’m not sending my password in plain text in the URL to set up something that doesn’t work anymore.
I don’t see what’s so great about this though.
Anyone?

The linear regression results work for me. Do you have Ad Block running?
I’m with you on sending the password in plain text. How about changing your password, using the tool, and changing your password back?
If you have specific gripes about the tool let me know. It automates several tedious issues for you like tagging results, importing delicious bookmarks, and determining the best refinements to display (using machine learning to find the common label itemsets or your most popular bundles).

I’ve fixed several bugs and added password encryption for all post-login requests. I hope this encourages more users to try out the service. Check out the blog link from this article for more details.
