Royksopp “Remind Me” Music Video, From Geico Airport Commercial

Jason has completely made my day by identifying that song from the Geico commercial (you know, the one where a caveman is riding a moving walkway in an airport) as “Remind Me” from Royksopp’s Melody A.M. album. I get that commercial stuck in my head every time I see the commercial, but after watching the eery music video, the tune lingers for hours. Check it out:

For the record, here’s the Geico commercial:

The version of the song in the commercial is slower, a little more surreal, but the version in the video seems to suit it better, and when stuck in my head, there’s little difference between the two.

  1. the version in the video you posted is a remix i believe. the video for the original (album) version is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15uo9qGlKKQ&mode=related&search=
this version is the same as the Geico commercial.

  2. The slower version may be the actual album track, from memory the version in the music video is a little faster and more pop than the original…

    It’s a wonderful song :)

  3. I can’t see the videos (wtf? Is YouTube down or something?), but could it be that the faster version is also on the album as the remix?

I’ve been listening to a mix of that track for a while now.

I’m not going to post the direct link here, as Nathan might not like it, but I’m quite sure it’s SingingFishable…

  4. RH: Yes, the song in the video you posted is the original album version, but the video itself is a fan-made music video (check the video description).

If anyone wants to watch it:

Tim: Wow, I had no idea it was so easy to get music off SingingFish! And don’t worry about linking to things, as a general rule, the legal fault lies with the host of illegal content, not the linker. And I certainly wouldn’t mind if you linked to SingingFish, a Time Warner property that is linking to freely available, copyrighted music files.

SingingFish results for “remind me royksopp”

  5. Yeah the Geico advert track is from their Melody A.M album; the one posted above is a remix called “Remind Me (Someone Else’s Remix)” Either way thanks to the advert I love the song!

  6. Thank you, Nathan, I didn’t know how liberal you would be with such things.

I was just thinking of sites hosting torrents - aren’t they liable in certain cases? Anyway, I just thought I’d better be safe than sorry :-)

  7. Sites hosting torrents can be held liable, because while they don’t share illegal content, they do host trackers for that content, which courts may find illegal. That’s why I use isohunt for my torrents, since it only links to trackers, and doesn’t host torrents, since search engines are not liable for the content they link to.

As for comments posted here, my policy is that commenters can write whatever they want, and in return, I can do whatever I want. I get to write whatever I want at the top of the page, and you guys deserve a say on the rest of it. It’s only fair. I’ve removed or edited comments at the request of the commenter, but otherwise I can’t remember ever censoring anything. If I ever do, it’ll usually be for a really big reason, so I’ll explain it publicly.

  10. It seems some AOL Employees read the comments here…

SingingFish has started redirecting to AOL Video, a video service I’m quite sure of that it’s crippling its content with digital restrictions (DRM).

Well, I’ll be looking for a new SingingFish, I guess. Such a pity, I’ve found tons of legitimate content there, but I bet “piracy” is mostly the reason they shut it down.

  11. can someone send me the slow version? I cant find it, you can file trasfer it to me at my aim (akadrewsif)

  12. The Royksopp tune, Remind Me, has been stuck in my head ever since the Geico caveman commercial first aired (though there was only enough there to tantalize me). I didn’t think to even try to find the information of artist and song until I couldn’t stand not knowing any longer. I emailed Geico and asked them and their response was timely. I have listened to both versions and definitely love the slower version better. The tune is definitely stuck for good now.

  13. […] Travelator: That high-speed walkway they have in Paris should immediately be installed at the Columbus Circle subway station here in Manhattan. Note: “it has been estimated that commuters using a [high-speed walkway] twice a day would save 11.5 hours a year.” Don’t we need these in New York more than they need them in France? This Wikipedia visit took place after idly searching for the name of the song in the background of the Geico commercial with the indignant caveman at the airport (it’s “Remind Me” by Royksopp). […]
