YouTube Surpasses TV Network Websites, Combined

Hitwise reported that early last month, YouTube’s market share surpassed that of the websites of every major television network in the US. Combined. They tracked a custom category of 56 major TV network main websites (not individual show websites, though, like the American Idol website), and while those websites in aggregate stayed flat over the last 12 months, YouTube increased over 12-fold, and is now alread pulling well higher traffic than all of them are.

They now rank YouTube.com as the 12th most visited internet domain in the US.

The sites that received more traffic than YouTube were MySpace domains, Google, Yahoo domains, Hotmail, MSN, eBay, Live Search, and Facebook.

    For a start, may I note that 95% of the world population has very little reason to ever visit a US TV network website?
