Does Google Have A New Tagline?
Reuters is saying that Google has a new tagline, “Search, Ads and Apps”, reflecting their new focus. Previous corporate mantras (never really official taglines) were “Don’t Be Evil” and “Organizing the World’s Information”. Google has certainly moved lately away from the goal of organizing information and towards the more profit-focused goal of becoming the world’s most powerful advertising network, and it makes sense that they would want to emphasize that.
Is it really Google’s new tagline, though? Will we see it on press releases, business cards, presentations, even commercials, like a proper tagline? Or is Reuters just kinda taking something Eric Schmidt said out of context. Guess we’ll find out.

If it is, its just another step along their path towards just being a typical Silicon Valley .com company, building software, making a buck.

Google has had some bad product names in the past (and present too, of course), but a tagline like, “Search, Ads and Apps”? Even GOOGLE wouldn’t do that!
