InsideGoogle Video Blog: May 29, 2007
As promised, in order to rest my injured hand, here’s my first video blog, comprising what would normally be about eight blog posts. Enjoy!
I expect feedback, especially if people want this to get better or become a regular thing. Personally, I think it’s twice as long as it should be.

Good stuff. Not bad to listen too, though pretty long.
You should probably get rid of whatever that is in the bottom left corner, though.
I personally would prefer it if this was split. Maybe have an intro type section (think about the 10 o’clock news where they give a quick rundown of the stories) and then have each section be a seperate video. That’s a lot more hassle, though, I know.
If you didn’t want to do that, it wouldn’t be that hard to just list a kind of table of contents with the time that each section starts. I would have liked to skip through the Feedburner stuff and the attachment stuff (because I already knew about that).
It’s weird, that Google didn’t have a Memorial Day logo. It’s not a big deal, but they have one for every other holiday.

Thanks for uploading and linking to Google Video.
I think the video is a bit too dark, I had to turn up the brightness on my monitor quite a bit.
I’d rather not have this become a regular thing, it’s less convenient with the links in a seperate tab and such - or even in the same tab.
And if you really want all the feedback I can get - I generally dislike it when people “announce” their own name in a video. Here in the Netherlands that generally doesn’t happen. In public service news broadcasts, the name is generally displayed in the video instead. But that’s just me.
In general, I thought it was a decent replacement. =)

I just wanted to say, I really liked the video format. I found it more entertaining and easy to follow than the regular blog posts.
My main suggestion though, would be to split each story up into a separate video with its own post. It took me awhile to make time to watch this because of the length.

Thanks, guys, for all the encouragement. I didn’t have much of a choice last week, not being able to type, and I’m glad things went over well. I’m taking all the advice to heart going forward, since doing video was too fun not to do again.
Long videos absolutely isn’t the way to go, I agree, and I can’t blog and vlog at the same time, so what I’ll do is pick a big story almost every day, something fun and visual, and do a short video on that. Like today, if it works out, I’ll be shooting a video on Google Maps StreetView and all the funny stuff in there.
This way, it’ll be easy to follow and short enough for everyone to be able to handle.
Laurent: I keep all my email, with my Hotmail stretching back about seven years. Not quite 12 years old, but if I could have kept that far back, I would have. Shame that inbox sizes were too small back then. I’d love to be able to read my first email again.
