48 Cents For A Laser Printer? Hell Yeah!

I can’t believe I just bought black and white laser printer for fourty-eight cents. Wow.

How’d it work? The printer, the HP Laserjet 1018, normally $129, is discounted at Quill to $79.98. HP has a rebate for half of manufacturer’s retail, or $64.50, from authorized dealers. Quill has a 15% off coupon code that gets you $15 off. So, I pay Quill $64.98 (free shipping, plus $6.70 tax in New York), HP sends me back $64.50, and I’m out just 48 cents.

But wait, there’s more!

Quill has coupon codes for many types of purchases. So I also get:

Free Radio Pedometer w/$75 Online Purchase

Free MP3 Player (MPC888M) w/$75 purchase

Free Quill Logo Mug with purchase

Free 2-Cool Lunch Tote Bag w/$75 Online Order

Oooh baby!

What a deal!

If you can still get this deal, and you don’t, just turn around and leave. Your penny-pinching card will be revoked at the door.

Read the whole deal at Slickdeals, including the coupon codes.

If you can’t get it at Quill anymore, Amazon currently has it at $23 after the rebate, assuming the rebate applies from Amazon (call HP).

UPDATE: Don’t bother. I just got an email from Quill:

Dear Customer,

We are sorry, we are unable to fulfill the order that you placed today. The promotional offers you requested were sent to a limited, select group of customers and we are unable to accept requests for these Coupon Codes from customers outside of this group.

As stated on both the Instant Coupon page and in our Order Restrictions, Quill has the right to reject orders that contain promotional codes obtained from a source other than Quill, such as from an internet bulletin board. For your convenience, we have included a link to this page.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

Quill Customer Service

That’s bull. Either you offer 15% off or you don’t. Those other coupon codes, like for the pedometer, cancel them if you want, but to cancel an entire order (which I would have paid for even without the coupon codes!) is just ridiculous.

You think I’m ever going to order from Quill.com again after this? Or recommend it to any of my readers? Please.

I recommend staying away from any website that pulls crap like this. If you have a coupon you honor it. Plain and simple.

  1. I can’t help but think “TANSTAAFL”… But even the replacement toners don’t appear to be too expensive. ( http://www.google.com/products?q=q2612a )

  2. Ah, but because it’s toner, you can refill it instead of buying replacement toners for ten bucks or less:

I’m feeling good about it. Ask me again in a few weeks if the rebate doesn’t come back.
