Next YouTube Star: Tay Zonday and Chocolate Rain
Opie and Anthony today were playing the most interesting song by this guy Tay Zonday, who is slowly becoming a hit on YouTube. Tay has this amazing, deep voice (and he’s just 25), and he sings this original song called Chocolate Rain:
Amazing. It seems silly at first, then you see the talent he has and listen to the words, and, I don’t know, I just have to listen to it. The song is released under a Creative Commons license, and you can download the MP3 from this link.
Tay’s got 15 videos in total, some covers and some original. I especially liked his “Never Gonna Give You Up“:

Im April erlangte er mit seinem “original song” Chocolate Rain diese neue Art von Warholscher Berühmtheit, die man mit MySpace, YouTube und Technorati erlangen kann in Verbindung mit der realen Gefahr, den Song nach mehrmaligem Hören tatsächlich nicht mehr aus dem Kopf zu bekommen. Die ersten Parodien des Songs sind schon auf dem Weg ins Netz. Danach kam ein Song über unser aller Lieblingstechnologie (”Man, this internet is somethin’ else”). Und jetzt der absolute Knüller: Tay singt Rick. Genau, Rick Astley und seinen Überhit “Never Gonna Give You Up”. Ich habe das originale Video wahrscheinlich vor 20 Jahren das letzte Mal gesehen (hey, das war geraten, aber der Song feiert tatsächlich gerade seinen 20. Geburtstag). Dass das Video so unglaublich furchtbar ist, hatte ich gar nicht mehr in Erinnerung. Aber jetzt in Verbindung mit Tays schräger und tiefer Stimme ist es wirklich … hmm … somethin’ else, oder? […]

this dude is TERRIBLE…i think everyone telling him he’s good is playing around with him…he’s completely off key, can’t hold a note and makes awkward faces…absolutely terrible…i watch his videos only for a good laugh

Dude- He is not a “hit”- people watch for how mind blowingly retarded this guy is. If you like this guy, you probably like unicorns and things shoved up you ass.
Horrible, this guy should get his ass kicked for even putting his crap in the public forum.

I’d rather have this chocolate rain: robertaschocolates.com/chocolaterain.html, or this one: chocolate-rain.co.uk. Much easier on the stomach.
