The Future Of Blog Marketing

The Online Journalism review has this great article on marketing in the blogosphere, from the Marqui program I use, to BzzAgents and the Silicon Valley 100. Where do you think blog marketing should go? Newspapers have these great agreements with companies, things that aren’t available to bloggers with their smaller audiences (unless you’re Jason Calacanis). Bloggers are going to have be more creative, or join up in groups (as I’m trying to do here) to make a little coin. I’d like some input as to what everyone thinks.

On a side note, I am looking for an ad sales person. If you’ve got some experience or connections, email me at the advertising address below. Everything’s on commission, so its a great way to make some bucks and help out a website you like to get even better.

  1. It’s easy if you think about. Bloggers just need to consistently and professionally put out quality content to a trgeted audience. That’s what newspapers do anyway. The difference is newspapers usually target a geographical area.

Really though marketing a blog isn’t really that different than marketing any website. I can think of tons of ways right of the top of my head: SEO, backlink programs, internet directories, email campaigns, AdWords, traditional advertising, press releases, get people to write up articles on you for other sites, magazines, newspapers, etc.
