Sites Banning Web Accelerator
I was visiting Whackbag.com, the unofficial Opie & Anthony message boards, and was stopped cold by this message:
Access Denied..Reasons you may encounter this page:
(1) You are using a proxy. proxys are not permitted to access this server.
(2) You are using a toolbar that changes your IP address. If you are using google’s web accelerator , Please turn it off for access to wackbag.
(3) You may have been banned by one of the staff.Your current IP is: 64.233.173.106

Wow. People sure are getting serious about Web Accelerator.
Whackbag runs off Vbulletin. Snow, who runs some great forums where you can unofficially discuss InsideGoogle and InsideMicrosoft at Aboho, pointed me to this thread where it is confirmed that Vbulletin version 3 is protected against any sort of Web Accelerator security threat. However, Vbulletin 2 is not, so upgrade if you want to remain secure.
The problem is, VBulletin3 sucks shit for any number of other reasons. Also, many sites have customized and hacked the shit out of vbulletin2 to make it workable - upgrading would destroy their entire setup. It’s easier to just ban googles crappy fucking software.
