Add A “Delete” Button To Gmail

SiliconBeat points to a GreaseMonkey script that adds a “delete” button to Gmail, which doesn’t normally have one. Very cool.

… Gmail engineers apparently view the delete button as a quaint time-waster. Gmail hides its delete function in a non-intuitive pull-down menu and discourages people from using it.

Not a problem anymore.

UPDATE: There seems to be a major bug in the script, which Arjun says is related to the timing at which it refreshes the page. This causes Google to lock out your account until you get support to reactivate it. Arjun does say that it is fixed in the latest version of the script, but make sure you are aware of the risk before you install it.

  2. I had the exact same experience when I installed the Delete button a couple weeks ago. Over about 5 days, I was locked out of Gmail for anywhere from minutes to several hours on 6 or 7 occasions. As soon as I uninstalled the Delete button script, it hasn’t occured again. I posted my problem here - http://google.weblogsinc.com/entry/1234000400046791/#c295636 - before I saw this entry that others have had the same issue. This is definately something the author of the script will need to look into.

  3. You can “delete forever” spam emails ~ as defined by Google. I suppose the logic of having almost infinite storage is that you won’t need to delete the rest.
