Google Stealing eBay Exec?
Om Malik says “Valley insiders are whispering that Louis Monier, ebay’s director of advanced technology group” has left eBay for Google to work on Froogle. Apparently, Monier once also talked about “solving and [sic] interesting problem”, just like Google CEO Eric Schmidt has been saying about Google’s big financial move. The Google / eBay war may be just beginning.

UPDATE: Monier confirms the reports in an interview with John Battelle. He seems excited.

And he explicitly denied the pay-pal like service? Seems to me this can fit in very well with froogle.

“We do not intend to offer a person-to-person, stored-value payments system.” as you quoted a few posts back. They might not get into ‘contribution bins’ or ‘inter-personal payments’, the road is clearly open to a big and forceful commerce platform.
