Google Using Pizza As A Recruitment Tool
Google’s newest smart idea: Hire a “pizza ambassador”, a computer science student who will spend a minimum of $500 of Google’s money to get pizza for other CS students. The pizza will be served on Google plates with Google napkins, and the ambassador can request the initial $500 budget be increased as necessary. Jason Lee Miller at WebProNews has the details.

This has been going on for a while now. Someone did it at my college last year.

Google must have a lot of money to blow. It seems pretty stupid to target an audience that’s already using your search engine anyway.

They’re not targeting people to use Google, They’re targeting them to work at Google.

Google certainly did this at Stanford at least two years ago. I recall one late night in Sweet Hall (think dungeon full of Sun workstations) being interrupted by sweet Google pizza with colorful plates and napkins. And now I’m working there. Good correlation between pizza handouts and recruitment.
