Google Print Publisher: You’re Dead To Me!

Brad Hill (an AOL employee now?) reports that Rowman & Littlefield Publishing Group, a partner in the Google Print for Publishers, has pulled out of the program, not wanting to be associated with Google’s library policy. While many are siding with Google on this, no one can deny the bad press the company is getting, and now that is translating into real losses. Can’t Google just promise the copyright holders plenty of ad revenue, so this problem goes away?

  1. What the &$*@!? I’m sorry, Nathan, but this whole whining from book publishers has to be the most assinine / selfish crap I’ve heard in a while. Google’s service provides SNIPPETS. Teasers, if you will. It will help sell *more* books and provide *more* revenue to publishers (and authors).

Why the heck should Google give these parties yet more money (e.g., racket protection money) for what most of us believe is fair use?!

On principle, it really gets my goat.
