Google May Take Two Years To Get Back To You

Dom sent Google an email on May 13, 2004, suggesting they add a plugin to their blog. Last Friday, after 744 days, Google responded. Ouch. Worse, it appears the person who responded was being trained in using the support system, so it wasn’t even a real response (and, besides just blowing him off, the trainee probably didn’t follow the instructions to not send real emails). I’m willing to bet there are worse stories of tech support taking years to get back to someone, but this does sort of underscore how hard it is to reach a real human at Google.

  1. Woah! Two years?!? I sure hope this was just a very, very odd coincidence….

  2. Woah, I thought it was just me.

Last November I had asked a question. A month later when I had still not received a response other than an automated one… I sent another. I’m still waiting.

The odd thing is that just this past March I had asked a question and I got a nice automated response with some common problems. At the bottom of the email it said “If you continue to experience problems logging in, please respond to this
message and we will investigate the matter further.” Even though it wasn’t a question about logging in.. I kindly replied “That didn’t help.”, Two days later I got a nice response that I was expecting.

    Two years? Sheesh.
