Holy Crap! Happy 4th From Ask!
Ask.com has the boldest holiday celebration image I’ve ever seen on a search engine. Rather than rework their logo or page coloring, they went for a giant fireworks-filled image. Here’s a screenshot (click to enlarge):
Beautiful. The Fourth of July is one of my favorite days of the year (and it sucks to be in another country on it), so I feel proud just looking at it. That background image is a 195,850 byte, 998×624 pixel behemoth. Wow.

Here’s Yahoo’s doodle:

Does Google have a Doodle? I can’t get through to Google.com right now.
UPDATE: Jason said NBC ruined their fireworks coverage with “too cool for the room” camera edits that missed all the good stuff. Figures. I didn’t get to see any fireworks, since, for some reason, they don’t celebrate July 4 outside the U.S. Weird, right?
UPDATE 2: Here’s Google’s Doodle, courtesy of mark:

And, if you, like me, can’t get through to Google.com, here’s the same logo, uploaded to Imageshack by Haochi:

I gotta say, compared to Google’s previous Independence Day logos, this one is too cutesy, and seems to have no idea that this day is actually important to some people.

Wow, Ask went all the way with that! I wouldn’t have expected that either.
And yes, Google did make a doodle:
